Alicia Crawley, MA, Resident in Counseling
Alicia is a highly skilled and dedicated Virginia Board-approved Resident in Counseling and Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-A/C) with over 12 years of experience specializing in trauma recovery and emotional regulation. Her expertise lies in helping adults, adolescents, children, and pre-teens overcome the effects of childhood trauma, neglect, and relational difficulties. Alicia has a profound understanding of how early attachment experiences influence adult emotional and relational patterns, developed through her extensive work in intensive in-home counseling.
Alicia’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Liberty University, followed by a Master of Arts in Human Service Counseling with a Marriage and Family specialty. She earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2024 from the same institution. Her professional experience includes collaborating with court officials, medical professionals, schools, and community programs to support those facing mental health crises, attachment issues, and life stressors, including the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. During her practicum and clinical internship, she enjoyed working with Adult Substance Abuse (SA) Psychoeducation groups where she provided a thorough SA knowledge base to allow individuals’ to explore their relationship to alcohol/drugs, as well as Individual Therapy to adolescent and adult populations addressing co-occurring disorders.
With a passion for addressing co-occurring disorders, Alicia has effectively worked with adult substance abuse psychoeducation groups and provided individual therapy to adolescents and adults dealing with anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD, ADHD, and more. She creates a safe and supportive environment using her unique blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment-Based Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy.
Alicia is adept at guiding clients through life transitions and challenges by involving parents to foster the healthy development of youth. Alicia enjoys working with teens and adult populations and encourages clients to explore their deepest struggles, confront their past, and develop healthier patterns of thinking and behavior.
